We’re committed to informing and empowering our clients to make smarter financial decisions. Our focus is on comprehensive, tax-advantaged plans that help provide sound preservation of capital, growing income and increased returns with reduced risk. We do this by providing guidance to help you develop an overall retirement income strategy, and we offer a variety of insurance and investment products to help achieve the objectives of that strategy.
Wealth Trac Financial's business philosophy revolves around experience and knowledge. Every client's situation is unique; there is no one-size-fits-all plan. That's why we place a large emphasis on ensuring that our clients thoroughly understand the various financial vehicles available to them, thus enabling them to make the best choices for their families.
As the founder and president of Wealth Trac Financial, LLC, Kurt Fillmore is focused on helping clients work toward their financial dreams through a well-thought-out strategy for every stage of life.
The son of two teachers, Kurt was abruptly thrown into the finance world at 19 years old when his father passed away, leaving Kurt a modest inheritance. Unprepared to deal with this tragic loss, Kurt relied on his father's financial advisor to manage the money. Through tax mismanagement and poor investment choices, Kurt's inheritance was soon cut in half.
At the time, Kurt was a student studying Finance at one of the top-ranked business schools in the nation, the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He began educating himself on personal financial strategies and the details regarding his own situation. It was then that Kurt decided his goal in life: To use the knowledge he gained to help other families secure their futures and avoid large financial setbacks like he experienced at such a young age.
Following graduation, Kurt spent two years as an account executive at CitiGroup, where he managed retirement assets for medical professionals. He was named National Financial Counselor of the Year in 2002 and 2003. Kurt became an independent advisor in 2004, ultimately founding Wealth Trac Financial in 2007. He is a Certified Financial Fiduciary®, holds his Series 65 securities registration, and his Michigan life and health insurance license.
Kurt makes it his responsibility to thoroughly understand clients’ goals and dreams and to leverage his knowledge and experience to help clients realize them. He also has been featured in and on multiple national and local news outlets for his industry knowledge, including Forbes, CNN, Consumer Reports, US News & World Report, Detroit FOX-2 News and Kiplinger.
Kurt lives in Bingham Farms, Michigan, with his wife, Erika, and three small children, Dylan, Elliana, and Mason.
Erika’s first memory of money was learning about profit at age 7. Embracing the concept, Erika started selling pencils to her classmates. When the school realized their pencil sales had taken a sharp dip, Erika’s parents were called into the principal’s office. “She is undermining the school’s pencil sale fundraisers by selling pencils,” they said. So Erika switched to selling stickers instead!
Erika has long held a passion for excellence in all capacities. She grew up in metro-Detroit as a competitive figure skater, training 6 days/week, before and after school for 5 hours/day for years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the inaugural class of the International Academy, the #1 high school in the country as ranked by US News and World Report during her years of matriculation. Erika’s collegiate studies led to Princeton University, where she studied Finance, followed by a fast and furious career on the trading floors of Wall Street before continuing her education in Psychology at the University of Michigan. She has remained in her home state of Michigan ever since.
Erika is Chief Operating Officer of Wealth Trac Financial and has been with the company since its beginnings. Erika ensures that processes and standards of excellence are maintained through all aspects of operations. With an incomparable attention to detail, Erika can step into any role within the organization as needed with care, grace, and exceptional competence.
Erika lives in Bingham Farms with her husband, Kurt, and their three children: Dylan, Elliana, and Mason. In her free time, Erika enjoys international travel, photography, cooking, volunteering, and the occasional moment of peace and quiet often elusive with young children. Erika serves as Treasurer on the board for both the Princeton Club of Michigan and the Detroit North Woodward Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association. She is a founding member and serves on the application committee for Moonshadow’s Spirit, a charity that provides scholarships for individuals seeking eating disorder treatment.
